On Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 6 a.m., construction crews opened the new US 301 northbound on-ramp to I-75 southbound. The new on-ramp is on the right side of US 301 northbound across from the old on-ramp. US 301 southbound traffic will continue to use the existing US 301 northbound on-ramp to I-75 southbound.
Traffic conditions improved slightly, but according to Alex Ruiz with the Florida Department of Transportation, heavy traffic will continue until at least March, 2025.
This is part of a larger project to widen the I-75 and reconstruct the I-75 / US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration. A northbound exit ramp is still under construction over the Manatee River.
