A First Look At Parrish Community Park

The long awaited Parrish Community Park is nearing completion! It’s located off Ft. Hamer Road, just south of Erie Road, near Parrish Community High School.

This fantastic addition to our community will include a shaded performance pavilion, walking trails, 20 fitness stations with equipment, boardwalk in wetland, playgrounds, splash pad, restrooms, parking, and designated food truck parking.

The park will feature two distinct shaded playgrounds tailored to different age groups: a vibrant, engaging play area designed specifically for toddlers aged 2-5 years, and a larger, more adventurous playground for children aged 5-12 years. Additionally, there’s a play mound covered with soft, artificial turf that includes two exciting slides and a variety of spinning play structures, ensuring endless fun and active play.

The 4,700 sq. ft. splash pad is designed for kids of all ages. It features a SuperSplash dumping bucket, and two opposing tube cannons for competitive spray play. A toddler zone offers more gentle water features. The Cascade Rainforest offers game opportunities and water play. The splashpad equipment will be a patriotic red, white, and blue theme.

The performance pavilion will serve as a versatile venue for festivals, plays, and a variety of community events. It features a spacious 120′ by 120′ shaded area with terraced seating designed for optimal viewing and comfort. Behind the pavilion, the festival grounds will offer ample space for tents, complete with electrical hookups throughout the area, providing the perfect setting for events of all sizes.

With its inclusive design and thoughtful amenities, the park aims to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for families to gather, play, and relax.

The park is scheduled to open by the end of this year according to Manatee County Sports & Leisure Services. Stay tuned for updates as we approach the grand opening and get ready to experience a new cornerstone of fun and recreation in our community!

Phase 2 – North County Aquatic Facility

Phase 2 of the park will introduce the North County Aquatic Facility, a premier addition designed to meet the needs of swimmers and water enthusiasts. This state-of-the-art facility will include a 25-yard by 25-meter competitive pool equipped with 10 lap lanes, ideal for hosting tournaments and various programs. Adjacent to the main pool will be a shallow play pool, ranging from 3 to 4 feet in depth, perfect for aqua fitness classes and swim lessons, and featuring an elevated play structure reminiscent of a playground.

Both pools will be complemented by a range of amenities, including modern locker rooms with showers and restrooms, a first aid and lifeguard office, starting blocks, lane lines, and both in-pool and deck lighting. The facility will also boast a geothermal heating and cooling system for year-round comfort, along with ample deck seating and shade structures to enhance the overall experience for all visitors.

Construction of the the second phase for the pool is scheduled to start in 2025 and be complete in 2027.

  1. I am questioning the dimensions of the proposed pool, listed as 25 m x 25 m. There are zero age-group, high school, or college swimmers, not to mention adult recreational swimmers, who use the 25 m distance; ALL of them use 25 YD pools. Please consider making it 25 YD by 25 m. Ask any swimmer: it makes a big difference. The ten lanes are impressive.
