New AutoZone Proposed for Palmetto/Parrish

Automotive Commercial construction

AutoZone, an automotive replacement parts and accessories retailer, has filed paperwork with Manatee County to build a new 7,381 sq. ft. store near the Palmetto/Parrish line. This store will be in a retail plaza in front of the giant Seaire lagoon community, near the SW corner of Moccasin Wallow Road and Carter Road.

According to the plans submitted, a 2,000 sq. ft. bank may also be developed adjacent to AutoZone to the west.

AutoZone began as Auto Shack in 1979 by J.R. “Pitt” Hyde III in Forrest City, Arkansas. Over 40 years later, they have over 6,700 stores in all 50 U.S. states, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Brazil.

AutoZone’s stock, traded under the ticker symbol AZO, made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 1991. By 2003, it had surpassed $100 per share for the first time. The stock then crossed the $1,000 mark in 2019. As of September 10, 2024, AutoZone’s share price had reached a whopping $3,132!
