Palmetto’s American Honey Creamery Moves to New Plaza with Drive-Thru

A fixture of the North River community has completed a short but significant move. American Honey Creamery and Coffee Co. officially opened its new location at 5015 Moccasin Wallow Road on May 1, positioning itself as a cornerstone of a newly developed plaza.

The move is a short distance from its original home, landing directly across 96th St. E. from the former storefront. The new facility occupies the west end of the shopping center and introduces a major upgrade for the brand: a drive-thru window, which management expects to be operational by the end of May.

Originally founded by sisters Mindy and Ali Converse as a mobile ice cream truck, the business has transitioned into a multi-location operation under new leadership. Under the new banner of American Honey Creamery and Coffee Inc., the company has expanded its reach to include a second location in Apollo Beach.

Despite the change in leadership and location, the shop’s signature menu remains a favorite for North River residents. Patrons can still find the “Holy Heifer” sundae and the “9 to 5” Dolly Parton-inspired latte, alongside a rotating selection of 15 traditional ice cream flavors and pastries.

Beyond ice cream, the menu continues to lean into its coffee house identity, serving Joffrey’s coffee, specialty lattes and “Cowboy Kickers,” a line of sparkling plant-based energy drinks.

The new Palmetto location has expanded its hours to serve both the early morning commute and the late-night dessert crowd:

  • Monday through Thursday: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The creamery is the first of several businesses expected to activate the new plaza. Activity continues at the site as other businesses prepare to join the lineup at the high-traffic intersection. Back in January, we revealed the tenants slated for the new development, and we will provide further updates as more businesses in the center announce their official opening dates.

With more indoor seating expected to be finalized soon, the creamery remains a primary social hub for the fast-growing Moccasin Wallow corridor.
