Massive New RaceTrac Travel Center Now Open In Palmetto

Commercial construction Grand Opening

Commercial truck drivers and daily commuters traveling the U.S. 41 corridor have a massive new refueling option in Manatee County following the under-the-radar arrival of a sprawling RaceTrac travel center.

Located at 9608 U.S. 41 in Palmetto, the new facility recently opened its doors, bringing a significant infrastructure boost to the area. The station began operations without the usual fanfare; the location is so new that it has not yet populated on the company’s official online store locator or digital mapping services like Google Maps.

The modern travel center completely transforms the property, which was formerly home to Los Primos Country Deli. Unlike the new facility, the locally familiar, Spanish-themed convenience store did not sell fuel. It operated strictly as a popular roadside food stop known for serving hot breakfast and lunch, including Cuban sandwiches, cheeseburgers, chicken gizzards and a variety of fried foods.

Highlighting its focus on commercial freight, the newly built RaceTrac features a dedicated truck canopy with eight separate diesel pumps designed specifically to accommodate big rigs. For standard passenger vehicles, the location offers 16 traditional gas pumps under the main canopy.

The large-format store aligns with the Atlanta-based company’s recent strategy to expand its footprint with extended travel centers catering heavily to commercial fleets while maintaining standard convenience store services.

Inside the expansive brick-facade building, the store features the chain’s standard modern amenities, including an extensive coffee bar, fresh grab-and-go meals, hot food options and the company’s signature Swirl World frozen yogurt and ice cream station.

The addition of eight commercial diesel lanes is expected to provide significant relief and logistical support for long-haul truckers navigating the busy freight route between the Tampa Bay area and Bradenton.

Store representatives have not yet announced dates for formal ribbon-cutting ceremonies or official promotional events. However, if the launch follows the pattern of other recent local grand openings like ABC Fine Wine & Spirits and 7-Eleven, area residents should keep an eye on their mailboxes. Palmetto locals may see grand-opening flyers, discounts and free-item coupons delivered to their neighborhoods through USPS Every Door Direct Mail bundles in the coming weeks.
