Ellenton’s Rocky Bluff Library Plans New Building Addition

County Improvements

Plans have been submitted to Manatee County to renovate and expand the Rocky Bluff Branch Library in Ellenton, a long-standing community hub located at 6750 U.S. 301.

The proposal calls for renovations to the existing library and construction of a new single-story, 7,716-square-foot building. The new addition would be built to the northeast of the current structure.

The 4.36-acre property will remain largely unchanged, with no increase in impervious surface and no impacts to a nearby wetland northwest of the site. Utilities and stormwater systems will continue to be provided through existing county infrastructure.

The Rocky Bluff Branch Library has served the area for nearly 27 years and moved to its current location in 2011. The library offers programs for all ages, including Creative Aging art classes for seniors, technology instruction, and craft programs for teens and tweens. It also features an art wall showcasing works from the Parrish Arts Council and houses the Tool Library, part of the Library of Things, which allows patrons to borrow tools for home projects.

The plans are currently under review by Manatee County.
