Parrish Man, 21, Arrested For Distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material

A 21-year-old Parrish man was arrested in December following a child sexual abuse material investigation that began with a cyber tip forwarded to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Authorities said the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a report in late August from the messaging platform Kik involving the alleged upload of multiple files depicting child sexual abuse. The cyber tip was provided to the sheriff’s office on Sept. 5, records show.

Investigators said the uploads were traced to a Kik account using the username “Lil_Jamba” and an associated email address. The activity was linked through an internet protocol address to a residence in the 7400 block of Sea Manatee Street, within the Seaire lagoon community in Parrish.

On Dec. 2, detectives executed a residential search warrant at the address. Authorities said the warrant was read to the occupants, including Parker William Torres, 21. Following the execution of the warrant, Torres was advised of his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with detectives, the affidavit states. Investigators said Torres admitted that the Kik account “Lil_Jamba” belonged to him.

Torres also told investigators that he was the sole user of his password-protected Apple iPhone XR and Dell G3 laptop and that he did not use any other devices in the home, according to the affidavit.

During the search, detectives reported locating files containing child sexual abuse material on Torres’ laptop. His electronic devices were seized and transported to the sheriff’s office Internet Crimes Against Children unit for forensic examination.

Torres was arrested the morning of Dec. 2 and booked into the Manatee County jail. Court records show he faces two third-degree felony charges, each carrying a $5,000 bond, for a total bond of $10,000.

Torres was released from custody on Dec. 4 after posting bond and was placed on the electronic monitoring and home detention program, records show.

The affidavit notes that additional forensic analysis of the seized devices is ongoing and that further charges may be filed.

Court records list Jennifer Lea Fury as Torres’ attorney. As with all criminal cases, Torres is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
