Driver Injured in Palmetto Road Rage Shooting Monday

Public Safety

A 28-year-old Palmetto man was injured early Monday in a road rage shooting on U.S. 301 near Walmart, police said. Around 3:15 a.m., a family member called 911, reporting the man was shot at and driving to Manatee Memorial Hospital. The call ended abruptly, and follow-up attempts were unsuccessful.

Police found shell casings at the scene and spoke to witnesses who heard gunshots. A Bradenton police search located a pickup truck with multiple bullet holes, later confirmed as the victim’s. The man, who suffered a minor hand injury, told authorities he wasn’t sure if it was caused by a bullet fragment or debris.

Investigators learned the victim and shooter knew each other, but the victim declined to identify the shooter. The investigation is ongoing.
